UAF is developing its first ever Sustainability Master Plan and wants to hear ideas and suggestions.

The Office of Sustainability has created an online survey to help kick off the process. Take the survey

at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/QDLYVPQ or scan the QR code below. You could win one of 10 prizes including two one-day Fat Back bike rentals from Green Bikes, gift cards to local restaurants, T-shirts and more.

The SMP will outline sustainability goals, strategies, action steps and ways to measure progress. Topics could include energy, waste and recycling, transportation, education, curriculum, on-campus dining, green building, investment priorities and more.

During the next eight months, the UAF Office of Sustainability will work with a consultant and a steering committee representing a variety of departments, student interests and campus organizations. Together, they'll develop an SMP that will build on UAF’s existing sustainability progress and provide a roadmap for UAF to rank as a top performer among peer schools.

To begin, the office would like feedback on questions such as these:

  • What topics are most important to address?

  • What is working well on campus with respect to sustainability?

  • Where are our greatest opportunities for improvement?

  • What would a sustainable UAF look like?

Please contact the SMP project coordinator, Erik Williams (erwilliams3@alaska.edu), with your ideas and questions or for more information.
