The University of Alaska Fairbanks invites applications for postdoctoral positions through the Centennial Postdoctoral Initiative.

The initiative seeks early career scientists, scholars or artists who will engage in research or creative expression relevant to Alaska, the circumpolar North or other UAF research priorities. Five awards are anticipated for this recruitment. Scholars will be chosen through a highly competitive process. As such, these appointments will carry special recognition.

The full-time, 18-month, term-funded positions will be located at UAF. To be eligible, applicants must have received a doctoral degree between Jan. 1, 2015, and June 1, 2020. The application deadline is 11:59 p.m. Alaska Standard Time, Feb. 17, 2020.

Applicants do not need to have received their degree prior to applying, as long as they present a certified letter from a university official stating that they have completed all requirements to receive it. Successful applicants also must have completed their final thesis and have co-authored at least two peer-reviewed publications based on original research, or have equivalent accomplishments in a creative or scholarly discipline. Publications may be in press.

Applicants who wish to conduct research are encouraged to contact individual faculty directly prior to submitting the application. Each recipient should pursue research interests in association with a faculty sponsor in such a way that it will benefit the research of both the postdoctoral researcher and the faculty sponsor.
