Transition to Banner 9 begins Oct. 29

October 11, 2018

University Relations

The University of Alaska on Oct. 29 will begin the transition to a new version of Banner, the computer system used to manage information about employees, students, financial aid and university finances.

The new version, Banner 9, will be accessible anywhere with an internet connection, including on mobile devices. It has a modern look and feel, with consistent navigation.

Transition period

Banner 8, the system's current version, will no longer be supported by the vendor, Ellucian, as of January 2019. The more use that Banner 9 receives before then, the more familiar users will be at the end of the transition period.

Beginning on Oct. 29, the URL banner.alaska.edu will take users to a page with the option of using Banner 8 or Banner 9.

Ellucian also offers Banner 9 training materials for all UA users. You must first register on the Ellucian Hub here: https://clientapps.ellucian.com/SignUp.

The Banner 9 training wiki houses a video that will walk you through the registration process for the hub.
