New works by Todd Sherman are featured in a solo exhibit at the Well Street Art Company in Fairbanks industrial railroad district through Oct. 1. Sherman is a professor of art and the dean of the College of Liberal Arts.

"I am attracted to the life and beauty of our wildlife as beings and symbols of another aspect of our world, one from which we are drifting further and further away," Sherman writes in his artist statement.

"The works reflect my ideas of animals and landscapes idealized and simplified from the complexities of the natural world, often including the contradictions of the human world."

The Well Street Art Co. is open Tuesday through Saturday, noon- 6 p.m.
