The UA Board of Regents will meet in Anchorage Feb. 19-20

The University of Alaska Board of Regents will meet in Anchorage Feb. 19-20
in the Lee Gorsuch Commons on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus. Public testimony will be at 9a.m. Thursday and 9:30 a.m. Friday.

This will be the first meeting for four regents recently appointed by
Gov. Walker: Sheri Buretta, John Davies, Lisa Parker and Andy Teuber.
They will be joining veteran board members Chair Jo Heckman, Vice Chair
Mike Powers, Secretary Kenneth Fisher, Treasurer Gloria O'Neill, and
members Dale Anderson, Courtney Enright and Mary Hughes.

The board will receive a special presentation and training on Title IX,
landmark civil rights legislation that requires universities to strive to
end gender-based discrimination in their programs. They will receive an
update from UAA's Title IX Coordinator Marva Watson on the efforts UA is
undertaking to expand sexual misconduct prevention and awareness programs
on all campuses.

There will be a comprehensive budget discussion, and the regents will be
considering a proposal to increase tuition in light of state funding
shortages. In addition the UAA chancellor and provost will make a
presentation on the program prioritization process at UAA.

In regular business the board will review program and policy changes
receive an update from a common calendar task force, and approve a
supplemental budget request to cover utility and fuel costs.
