Term employees can be considered internal applicants

University Relations

A new UAF policy offers job-seeking help for term-funded employees whose contracts have ended early or have not been renewed due to lack of funding.

Policy 04.07.110 now allows affected term-funded employees, both exempt and non-exempt, to be considered as internal applicants for up to 12 months.

To participate, eligible employees must work with an human resources consultant to ensure timely placement into the internal applicant pool.  This offers (but does not guarantee) a chance to rehire an employee prior to a posting being advertised for competitive recruitment.

Retaining employees within the university is an element of “putting people first." It not only serves to motivate and reward employees for exemplary work but also allows the university to retain talent and reduce the impacts of turnover.
