The Alaska Teen Leadership Summit is accepting applications for a week-long summer residence program on the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus, May 31-June 7. The application deadline is April 10.

Previously known as the Summer Leadership Institute, ATLAS is designed to develop leadership skills for students finishing grades 9-12. Participants earn two college credits.

Students learn essential components of leadership, including communication, integrity, ethics and social responsibility. They also learn how to create a project plan. In addition, the program focuses on interpersonal skills, goal setting and decision-making.

The program costs $450, which includes tuition for two academic credits, fees, room, meals and program materials. Some scholarships are available on the basis of demonstrated financial need.
