Teaching Tip: Lying, deceit and effective teaching

There are many forms of the lie. Lies are the subject of great philosophical pondering, and now you can think about using various forms of lies as effective teaching methods. This week's Teaching Tip offers some examples of purposeful subterfuge in the class with some examples that focus attention on the lecture, engage students in conversation and help them gain self confidence. You only have to decide what’s more important — teaching the truth or teaching students to recognize the truth.
