Teaching Tip: Finding and resizing free images

There are at least two great ways to search for images you can use in your course materials (or homework):

1. Google Images search:


2. Website repositories of graphics labeled for commercial or noncommercial reuse:

• Pixabay (choose the smaller sizes!)


• Flickr Creative Commons


• Stockvault


• EveryStockPhoto.com


• Wikimedia Commons

Once you’ve acquired the images, you may need to resize them. Here are some handy tools:

• SumoPaint (try online or download)


• Pic Monkey (follow the ‘no registration needed, edit for free’ link)


• Pic Resize


• Even faster? http://picresize.com/plugins.php bookmarklet for your browser (if you use them; if not, do not go down this rabbit trail!)
