Sustainability plan to be presented Wednesday

January 26, 2015

University Relations

Chancellor Brian Rogers will present the new UAF Sustainability Plan from 1 to 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, in the Wood Center multilevel lounge.

Have a free slice of pizza and learn about the plan, a comprehensive approach to moving UAF toward sustainability. The document seeks to increase efficiency and reduce consumption in ways that will protect resources, save money and improve campus life.

In addition to Chancellor Rogers, the event will feature Vice Chancellor for University and Student Advancement Mike Sfraga and representatives of the Office of Sustainability  and the Review of Infrastructure, Sustainability and Energy Board.

They will present ways that you can get involved in implementing the plan and answer your questions about the plan and sustainability efforts at UAF.

Anyone ready to dive in will be able to sign up for subcommittees and submit ideas on sustainability topics. Subcommittees will review dining services, procurement, renewable energy and a zero waste goal.

The plan was created with input from a steering committee of people from across campus in 2014. Small-group interviews with students, faculty and staff and a campuswide survey were used to ensure broad input.

These efforts were put into action by students and made possible by the student sustainability fee. Join us to congratulate and thank them for their hard work.
