Summer tours resume at Geophysical Institute, Poker Flat

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Geophysical Institute is offering free public tours during the summer, starting June 1.

Members of the public can learn about the Alaska Satellite Facility, the Alaska Earthquake Center and the Alaska Center for Unmanned Aircraft Systems Integration during weekly tours offered every Wednesday from June 1–Aug. 24. Tours begin at 1 p.m. in the lobby of the Elvey Building.

Poker Flat Research Range tours will take place on Thursdays from June 2–Aug. 25 at Mile 30 Steese Highway. Tours begin in the Range Administration Center at 2 p.m. each Thursday. There is a $5 fee for this tour, payable in cash or check.

Comfortable walking shoes and insect repellent are strongly recommended for the Poker Flat tour. Rain gear is also suggested.
