Summer Sessions at the University of Alaska Fairbanks is offering tuition and room discounts to students who take 10 or more credits this summer.

The Sweet Summer Deal offers a 28-percent discount on summer housing and up to four free credits to students who pay for their first 10 credits. All Summer Sessions courses are offered with in-state tuition rates, regardless of a students’ residency status.

“This program resulted from talking to students. We wanted to know the reasons they register or do not register for summer courses. In most cases, financial constraints made taking summer courses difficult,” said Michelle Bartlett, Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning director. “The Sweet Summer Deal and our other financial assistance programs are designed to help students get through their program at UAF in timely and efficient manner.”

All students who have a 2.0 grade-point-average or better, at any college or university, are eligible for the discount. Registration is now open for Summer Sessions courses. Students must apply for the Sweet Summer Deal by May 13.

The discount applies only to courses offered through Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning, not those through the Center for Distance Education or the UAF Community and Technical College. Students must complete all courses with a C or better in order to receive the tuition and room discounts.
