Nationally, SSLL received the Creative and Innovative Award for the Most Outstanding Non-credit Program for the course Field Photography on the John River. The course was a partnership between UAF and the U.S. Park Service to provide students with a unique Alaska experience learning wildlife photography while pack-rafting in the Brooks Range.

Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning  was also awarded the Creative and Innovative Award for the Most Outstanding Administrative Program for the Healthy Living Lecture series. This program was offered in association with Fairbanks Memorial Hospital and Cooperative Extension Service. This series was designed to address health care issues, making information readily available in lay-language to the local residents.

The Western Association of Summer Sessions honored SSLL with two additional marketing awards. The Best Comprehensive Marketing Effort award was granted for SSLL’s Step IN to Summer theme that was cohesively used across all marketing mediums. The second was the Best Marketing Effort by the Institution that included Summer Sessions.
