Summer construction projects and April 24 open house planned

April 23, 2012

Marmian Grimes

A number of construction projects planned on campus this summer will affect roads, parking and pedestrian access to buildings. While this season will be an inconvenience, these critical deferred maintenance projects will be addressed.

The three larger projects include the sewer line replacement and the electric vault and utilidor installation. The buildings will be open, but parking and motorized travel will be restricted. Employees, students and visitors will need to allow additional time for travel to the campus core. Watch for signs as you navigate construction areas.

Project managers expect to close South Chandalar Drive and Salcha Street from May 19 through July 7.

Parking expected be off-line May 19 – July 7:

  • West Eielson (3B)

  • South Eielson (3C)

  • Signers’ (3A)

The Nenana Parking Lot across from the Patty Center will also be closed mid-May to mid-August for the utilidor project.

Alternative parking available:

  • South Bunnell(3G)*

  • Taku parking lot (8A-C)

  • Lola Tilly (4A-B)

*This lot will primarily be used for displaced gold decal and metered spaces.

Please take the time to attend an open house, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 24  in the Alumni Lounge in Constitution Hall. Stop by to get more information and offer your input on this summer's construction projects. If you are unable to make the open house, but have questions about how this might affect your programs, send an email to dispatch@fs.uaf.edu.

A construction map will be available online and at the forum on Tuesday.  http://www.uaf.edu/fs/departments/design-construction/
