Students from the 2014 Alaska Youth Academy will be practicing marksmanship and firefighting on the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus this week.

Monday through Wednesday, July 28-30 from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. the students will use foam bullets to shoot targets in the parking lot north of the state virology lab, which is on UAF's West Ridge.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, the students will be extinguishing controlled fires in the southwest corner of the Nenana Parking Lot.

Members of the campus community and public are encouraged to avoid traveling through the training areas while students are participating in the academy activities.
