The Student Veterans of UAF will host its second annual Veterans Day Memorial Roll Call Monday, Nov. 12th from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Constitution Park on the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus.

The event will begin at 8 a.m. with an opening ceremony: ROTC will present the colors and UAF music graduate student Emerson Eads will sing the national anthem. Following the ceremony, volunteers from the campus, military and civilian communities will begin reading the names of the more than 6,500 service members who have been killed in action while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. U.S. Sen. Mark Begich will speak at noon and Joe Fields, chairman of the Alaska Veterans Advisory Council, will speak at 5 p.m. The roll call will continue until the last name is read and will be followed by a closing ceremony, which will feature Eads singing "Amazing Grace" and a 21-gun salute from the Alaska Honor Guard. The ROTC will retire the colors.

The event and ceremonies are open to the public. For more information, visit www.uaf.edu/veterans or email svofuaf@gmail.com. Information is also available by calling 907-474-2475.
