There will be a student-facilitated discussion about the role of higher education in society, Wednesday March 27 at 5:30 p.m. in Wood Center rooms C/D. Download and post the promotional flier (pdf).

How should higher education shape our society? A job without a college degree is hard to come by in this new economy and the United States is facing serious challenges on a number of fronts, including producing enough highly-skilled graduates to compete with China and India. Many hard working Americans are slipping out of the middle class and growing numbers of poor teens never get a fair chance at a good future in the first place.

Sponsored by the UAF Department of Sociology and the 2013 Capstone Seminar students, Students of Change club, the Charles F. Kettering Foundation and the National Issues Forums Institute.
