Student involvement on campus

University Relations

As a student on campus, I am very concerned by the lack of student involvement and student empowerment on campus. It's really depressing when students don't know what's going on and even worse when they do know whats going on but don't seem to care. Our athletics involvement is terrible, campus events usually have low turnouts, and most students have no idea whats going on at the university anyway. I feel that although this is primarily a student issue, faculty and staff should do more to get students involved on campus by encouraging participation in clubs, giving extra credit for attending out-of-class events, taking 5 minutes before or after class to tell students what is going on or what will be happening on campus. I think in a time when morale is low across the board students need to rely on faculty and staff to keep their spirits up, and by extension students can do their best to reciprocate that support and raise morale among faculty and staff.
