The University of Alaska Fairbanks Chinese Student Association, in connection with the Office of Multicultural Affairs, will hold a Chinese New Year celebration Feb. 11 at 5:30 p.m. in the Wood Center on the UAF campus.

The traditional holiday is one of the most important festivities in the Chinese culture. This year, 2012, is the Year of the Dragon. In ancient days, the dragon was considered as one of the most sacred animals and a symbol of strength in the Chinese culture. The Year of the Dragon is considered lucky.

The event will feature a Chinese buffet and performances by members of the Chinese Student Association and members of the community. The event is open to the public. Adult tickets are available for $15 in advance or $17 at the door. Tickets for children ages 5 – 12 are $8 in advance and $10 at the door.
