Stairs behind Mac

Hello. I know it does not really matter but I am curious what the thought process / logic was around the lengths of the steps behind MacIntosh (that staircase between Mac and Nerland). I am 5' 8'' so probably a little higher than average height and I either have to stretch my legs really far and hop up the steps (which looks silly so I don't do that) or I have to take mini steps and multiple steps on each platform. I know this does not really matter but I am super curious the logic behind it. It seems like the steps were made for kids or giants.
