Social media course offered for food businesses

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service and Alaska Sea Grant will host a workshop Oct. 26 on social media and metrics for food businesses.

The webinar will run from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. via Zoom, an Internet-based videoconferencing program. The course is aimed at helping food businesses develop their operations through social media. It will offer advice on how to analyze and measure the effects of social media, quantify interactions with customers, manage the volume of social analytics and understand consumer behavior.

Christina Uticone, a former Fairbanks resident who now lives in Houston, Texas, will teach the course. Uticone is a freelance writer and social media manager, and has consulted for the School Nutrition Foundation since 2011, creating content for its Beyond Breakfast blog and managing its Facebook and Twitter accounts.

The class is $40. Registration is available at http://bit.ly/ces-workshops. The class is limited to 15 participants. To fully participate, individuals’ computers must have a camera and microphone.
