Snow removal

The cold weather waited patiently until the Fairbanks campus parking lots were scheduled
to have the hard pack removed. Facilities Services has a new plan to remove snow from
the academic lots at night, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. (The lot on the east side physical
plant will be cleared during the day on Thursday, Jan. 17.)
The work will begin Monday, Jan. 7, and is expected be completed by Jan. 17. If your
department has vehicles, just simply move those vehicle to a cleared section of lot
so crews can clear the areas where hard pack remains.
Parking lots adjacent to residence halls will be cleared during the day between Jan.
7 and Jan. 11. Facilities Services has placed signs in those lots notifying students
of the work.

FS is also working on its regular scheduled weekly lot cleaning, and the lot closures
and cleanings for the week of spring break. As always, signs will be posted in lots
ahead of time, and the spring break schedule will be published in Cornerstone in early
March.
