Heartwalk People from throughout the UAF community are joining the 2015 Heart Walk on May 16 to promote awareness of heart disease and stroke prevention and raise money for vital life-saving research.

Last year, more than 200 UAF employees, students and supporters participated in the Fairbanks Heart Walk. This year, Chancellor Brian Rogers and Sherry Modrow are chairing the event, and it should be the biggest one yet.

It is more important than ever to have a strong showing of community support. You can help by forming a team within your work unit or group. UAF is looking for some new teams this year and has made creating one easier than ever. Just go to the UAF page or contact UAF Fire Chief Doug Schrage for some printed materials. Team captains who sign up this week are invited to a free motivational kickoff luncheon at the Carlson Center on Monday, March 2.

College of Liberal Arts Dean Todd Sherman has agreed to provide the artwork again for the highly popular UAF Heart Walk shirts. Walkers who raise $100 or more will be entered to win 25,000 Alaska Airline miles, provided by GCI, and other prizes.

The Heart Walk begins at 9 a.m. May 16 in downtown Fairbanks at Veteran’s Memorial Park.
