Three UAF Students in Free Enterprise members, Aaron Lojewski, Maggie Matheson and Kaz Alvarez, attended an eighth grade study session at the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District's K-8 Watershed School Oct. 4 to discuss sustainability. The Watershed students were guided through a review of what sustainability is and how it helps us to achieve future goals. Students and SIFE members then generated ideas to improve or maintain Fairbanks with the year 2020 in mind. The students were divided into four groups and assigned a SIFE member or the teacher, Abigail Paul, who helped them assess the viability of each idea.

The SIFE members will be returning to Watershed School Oct. 11 to continue brainstorming and begin the process of formulating a sustainability mission statement.
