Hello! I am Sierra von Hafften, and I serve as the ASUAF Senate chair. While there are many ways to get engaged on campus, I wanted to share with the student body 10 reasons to be a part of the ASUAF student government:

  1. Being a part of a community of your peers

  2. Being a voice for your peers in many different aspects of the university system

  3. Gaining experience in being a leader

  4. Gaining a more in-depth knowledge of complex university issues

  5. Working with a variety of professionals in many different fields

  6. Debating with a group of individuals to decide what is the best way to represent the student body

  7. Learn to work as a team with people who have different ideas

  8. Hands-on experience working within a bureaucracy

  9. Meeting nice people

  10. Being able to make a difference

ASUAF is looking for students who might want to be on the Senate, serve on university committees or provide valuable feedback about their experience as a student. If you are interested in these opportunities or want to learn more, please stop by our offices located in the Wood Center or email us at asuaf.office@alaska.edu.
