College Road will be closed for three weeks between Caribou Way, across from the Farmers Market, and the east end of Old College Road, at the Aurora Motel, beginning Thursday, June 4, according to the Alaska Department of Transportation.

The closure will come as part of the department's rehabilitation of College Road. HC Contractors Inc. is doing the work, which also includes reconstruction of College Road's intersection with Antoinette and Margaret Avenues in the Lemeta subdivision area.

Construction on the entire project will take place from Tuesday, June 2, to mid-October 2015. HC Contractors will repave College Road from University Avenue to Maryleigh Avenue and add sidewalks, new lights and marking. The planned new intersection of Margaret and Antoinette avenues with College Road is designed to improve traffic flow and safety.

A public open house will be held 4-6 p.m. Friday, June 5, in Artisan's Courtyard, 1755 Westwood Way. Project staff will be on hand to answer questions about traffic impacts and the construction schedule.
