Sarah Manriquez

The College of Natural Science and Mathematics will host the 17th annual Science Potpourri Saturday, April 9, from noon – 3 pm in the Reichardt Building. The event features hands-on science activities for the entire family and is free.

Kids of all ages can create floods and earthquakes or watch lava flow and volcanoes erupt. Events include physics and chemistry demonstrations, Lego robotics competitions, slicing rocks and making slime. Scientists will show the differences between Alaska volcanoes and those in other parts of the world through volcano eruption demonstrations. Rip the reindeer will visit for the day.

Everyone is welcome to participate in hands-on activities including the water erosion table and making molecules. Other take-home items include fossil impressions made with clay, a rock slice, a pet rock, a crystal model and prizes for participating in chemistry and physics demonstrations.
