Science for Alaska Lecture Series announced

The Science for Alaska Lecture Series, Jan. 20–Feb. 24, will bring current scientific research to the Fairbanks community.

The lectures will be held in the Westmark Fairbanks Hotel Gold Room on Tuesdays at 7 p.m.

This year's series includes the following lectures:

  • Jan. 20, "Weird Stuff You Ought to Know About Snow," by Matthew Sturm.

  • Jan. 27, "The Next Big Earthquake," by Michael West.

  • Feb. 3, "Polar Adventures: The Voyages of the Research Vessel Sikuliaq," by Michael Castellini.

  • Feb. 10 "Flying Robots! How Drones are Revolutionizing Science in Alaska," by Sean Barberie.

  • Feb. 17 "Weather Satellites and Alaska," by Eric Stevens.

  • Feb. 24 "Changing Relationships Among Alaska Hunters, Wildlife and Habitat," by Todd Brinkman.
