University of Alaska Fairbanks School of Management faculty members Cameron Carlson and Sean McGee gave an invited presentation on mass killing events in schools at one of the nation’s largest annual educational conferences.

At the presentation, conducted at SXSWedu in Austin, Texas, the pair showcased the experiences, education and capabilities developed within the homeland security and emergency management program at UAF. They also shared their experiences working with UAF, other schools and private industry through UAF's Center for the Study of Security, Hazards, Response and Preparedness as part of contracted services.

The presentation, “Leadership in the Most Difficult of Circumstances: Prevailing in the Face of Killing Events in Schools and Universities,” was well attended. Attendees were split about evenly between K-12 and higher education institutions. The presentation was part of of SXSWedu's leadership series.

More information and a recording of the presentation is available on the SXSWedu website.
