Arctic policy expert Alexander Sergunin will give a free public lecture, “Russian Arctic Strategies: Priorities, Challenges and Opportunities,” Wednesday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m. in the Murie Building auditorium at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

Sergunin is a professor at St. Petersburg State University and at the St. Petersburg branch of the Higher School of Economics. His research focuses on Russian foreign policy and relations between Russia and the European Union.

In addition to the lecture, Sergunin will meet with UAF scientists and multiple classes. He and two of his graduate students are spending the week at UAF as part of a project funded by the Schaible Memorial Cultural Enrichment Award. His visit is sponsored by the UAF Northern Studies Program and the UAF Graduate School.
