Jack Schmid, a research professional with the Alaska Center for Energy and Power, records measurements taken aboard a prototype diversion boom on the Tanana River near Nenana. Schmid is part of team conducting research on the feasibility of using the river current  to generate electricity for potential use throughout rural Alaska.
