The No. 5 Alaska Nanooks are on the road this week for their final regular season road match and their NCAA qualifying matches.

On Thursday, Feb. 14 (7 a.m. AKST/11 a.m. CST), the Blue and Gold will square off against the 12th-ranked Nevada Wolfpack for their final brush up before their NCAA qualifying matches on Saturday and Sunday (Feb. 16-17) at the University of Texas El Paso.

Alaska, who is 3-6 on the year, has gone toe-to-toe with the four of the top ten ranked rifle teams, including each of the top three.

The Nanooks last shot at home against No. 2 Texas Christian on Jan. 21. Their best outing thus far was at No. 3 Kentucky, where they combined for an aggregate score of 4687 on Jan. 13.

Following the weekend's qualifying matches team and individual shooter scores will be tallied and the NCAA qualifers will be announced later this month. Team selections will be released on Feb. 20, with the individual participants being announced on Feb. 21.

This year's NCAA Men's and Women's Rifle Championships are being hosted by the Ohio State at the Converse Hall and French Field House, Mar. 8-9 in Columbus, Ohio.

Alaska boasts 10 NCAA titles with their last triumph coming in 2008. Their best finish since then was a runner up finish to TCU in 2010. Last year they finished third overall after tying Kentucky in aggregate score but losing the tie-breaker for center shots.
