The Alaska Nanooks rifle team was ranked No. 4 in the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association Preason Poll released last week.

According to head coach Dan Jordan, the Blue and Gold's predicted finish is giving them motivation for the season, which began with their first official team practice and an intrasquad match last Saturday at the E.F. Horton Rifle Range.

Defending national champion Texas Christian recieved the top ranking in the CRCA Poll, while Kentucky was No. 2 and West Virginia was just ahead of Alaska in third place. Rounding out the top five, was the Army Black Knights.

Alaska will face five of the preseason's top-10 ranked teams, including the top three. They will host the WVU Mountaineers Nov. 17 and 18, and the TCU Horned Frogs Jan. 19 and 21, 2013.
