University Relations

The Biomedical Learning and Student Training program and the Office of Research Integrity are partnering to provide Responsible Conduct of Research training for faculty, graduate students, staff and undergraduates.

The training will be March 25, 2017, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Akasofu Building 501. Preregistration by March 17 is required, as space is limited to 30. Registration is available at https://uafblast.wufoo.com/forms/registration-for-rcr-training/.

A working lunch will be provided, and participants need to bring a laptop if possible for the online quizzes.

The training is required by the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation for all postdoctoral researchers, graduate students and undergraduates receiving funds from NIH and NSF. This workshop fulfills the NSF and NIH requirements. It will be the only formal RCR training at UAF this semester.

The RCR training covers core norms, principles, regulations and rules governing the practice of research. RCR is a highly recommended “best practices” course for those desiring to deepen their knowledge of ethical research and responsible conduct. It is also an excellent professional opportunity for anyone interested in furthering a career in research.

The in-person Responsible Conduct of Research training is open to all UAF-, UA Southeast- and Ilisagvik College-affiliated individuals (faculty, graduate students, staff and undergraduates).

The training is eight hours long, with facilitation and administrative support, and uses discussions and case studies to examine basic ethical and regulatory requirements for conducting research.

Participants must attend all modules presented, participate in workshop discussions, and complete the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative online training. A certificate will be issued to all participants upon successful course completion.
