The Department of Social Work and the Fairbanks Wellness Coalition are co-sponsoring the Resilience Film Festival June 21-22. The films will be shown in the Murie Building auditorium.

  • Thursday, June 21, 6-8 p.m.: "Paper Tigers" follows a year in the life of an alternative high school that has radically changed its approach to disciplining its students, becoming a promising model for how to break the cycles of poverty, violence and disease that affect families.

  • Friday, June 22, 6-8 p.m.: "Resilience – The Biology of Stress and the Science of Hope" chronicles the birth of a new movement among pediatricians, therapists, educators and communities who are using cutting-edge brain science to disrupt cycles of violence, addiction and disease.

Tickets are available through Eventbrite by donation. Proceeds will go to help support local efforts to address childhood trauma and resilience.
