Required safety training updates

The basic safety trainings all employees are required to complete are being re-written for delivery in a classroom setting. These trainings are being tailored to and condensed for UAF. Many props, examples, photos, hands-on activities and exercises will be used to enhance learning. Employees will be able to complete core training requirements quickly and efficiently.

The basic safety training classes are currently scheduled and available at the Community and Technical College. Session content and delivery will be somewhat flexible based on trainings the attendees need to complete. Please register as seating is limited. The classes will include:


  • Electrical Safety Awareness

  • Employee Safety Orientation

  • Office Safety (general)

  • Signs and Tags

  • Slips, Trips and Falls

  • Hazard Communications


The dates these classes are available are below:

  • Feb. 29, 9 a.m., 211 CTC (20 seat maximum)

  • March 7, 1 p.m., 303 CTC (20 seat maximum)

  • March 14, 9 a.m., 211 CTC (20 seat maximum)

  • March 29, 10 a.m., 306 CTC (20 seat maximum)


Future sessions will also include:

  • Back Safety and Materials Handling (these are being combined into one training)

  • Ergonomics Awareness
