Makerspaces are collaborative workspaces that foster innovative thinking where interdisciplinary teams interact, learn from each other, and spark new ideas. A makerspace can be an art studio or an engineering lab. It can be both a set of equipment in a specific location and the processes and procedures for community members to engage with that equipment.

The University of Alaska community is invited to submit proposals to develop and sustain makerspaces within UA’s academic environment. Proposals must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Friday, March 12. If received after this date and time, the proposals will not be considered for the call. Proposed research would start Monday, March 22.

You can find more information here.

This RFP seeks to fund innovative approaches to sustain and grow makerspaces across University of Alaska and to build a community of spaces. All questions should be directed to Peter Webley at pwwebley@alaska.edu and Mark Billingsley at mcbillingsley@alaska.edu.

This RFP is supported by the Office of Naval Research and is a program of the Center for Innovation, Commercialization and Entrepreneurship, or Center ICE.
