Presentation Skills: Foundations workshop May 31

A workshop, Presentation Skills: Foundations, will be held from 8:30 a.m – 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, in 401 IARC. Lunch will be on your own.

This 6-hour workshop introduces the fundamental principles of designing and conducting a training session. Participants will learn to identify the ideas they want to share with their audiences, how to arrange these ideas into an effective presentation and how to provide their participants with useful supplemental materials.

Register online. Due to the nature of this session, the workshop is available to in-class participants only.

UA employees who currently, or in the near future, plan to conduct training sessions or present material to university employees should attend.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:


  • Define objectives of a training session

  • Select the main ideas they want to present

  • Outline the course structure

  • Design supplemental materials

There will be an opportunity for five attendees to be video-taped as they practice their presentation skills.  If you are interested in being one of the five, please add a note in the comments box when registering or send an email to anne.sakumoto@alaska.edu.

Instructor will be Alica Unruh, M.Sc. After the workshop, Alica will be available for 30 days via phone or email to evaluate participants’  presentations and provide corrective suggestions.
