Geophysical Institute Professor Anupma Prakash was notified that a chapter she helped pen for the Earth Exploration Toolbook was selected for inclusion in the Climate Literacy & Energy Awareness Network, also known as CLEAN, in June 2011. The chapter, titled “Whither Arctic Sea Ice?” provides teachers and students the opportunity to measure the extent of sea ice in the Arctic using Earth science data.

The chapter developed by Prakash and colleagues from the Phoenix Country Day School, the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences, the National Snow and Ice Data Center and the Boston Museum of Science, was one of 92 selected for the initial CLEAN collection.

The National Science Foundation’s Climate Change Education program funds CLEAN.
