“Pioneer Voices: Highlights of the Pioneers of Alaska Igloo No. 4 Audio Collection” will be presented on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014, at 7 p.m. in the research room at the University of Alaska Fairbanks Rasmuson Library.

Leslie McCartney, oral history curator of the Alaska and Polar Regions Collections and Archives, will share memorable audio clips from the Pioneers of Alaska Igloo No. 4 collection. The Pioneers of Alaska made the recordings beginning early in the 20th century. They record the histories of hundreds of pioneers, from miners to homesteaders and captains of industry. The original media range from reel-to-reel tapes to CDs and are being preserved and made available online. The collection ranges from early gold camp days to the 1967 flood.

For more information, contact Leslie McCartney, the Alaska and Polar Regions Collections and Archives, Elmer E. Rasmuson Library, 907-474-7737 or lmccartney@alaska.edu.
