Pesticide applicator training scheduled

January 14, 2021

Marmian Grimes

Certified pesticide applicator training will take place by distance delivery Jan. 26-28 or April 6-8.

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service offers both trainings by Zoom, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The state requires certification for anyone who purchases, uses or sells restricted-use pesticides. Certification is also required for anyone who acts as a pesticide consultant, engages in the commercial or contract use of pesticides or supervises their use at a public location.

A $75 fee includes study materials. Register for both trainings at http://bit.ly/PSEPtraining. Participants are encouraged to become familiar with the materials and required math beforehand. Materials are available by appointment at Extension offices in Anchorage, Palmer and Fairbanks. They will be mailed to individuals in other communities. To make an appointment, contact Gina Dionne in Anchorage at gddionne@alaska.edu,  Theresa Isaac in Palmer at tmisaac@alaska.edu or Ronda Boswell in Fairbanks at rlboswell@alaska.edu.

Accommodation requests related to a disability should be made five business days in advance to Phil Kaspari at 907-895-4215 or pnkaspari@alaska.edu. For more information, contact Kaspari, the Extension agriculture agent in Delta Junction.
