ResLife peer mentor jobs open to Dec. 8

University Relations

Peer mentor applications are being accepted until Friday, Dec. 8! This is an excellent opportunity for students to learn leadership skills while they work. Application materials can be found online here at https://uaf.edu/reslife/jobs, or for more information contact Skarland Hall resident director Erica Hunt at ehunt11@alaska.edu.

The peer mentor program is a key aspect of the First Year Experience in on-campus housing at UAF. These live-in tutors assist students with the transition to college life and general ed coursework. While there are a variety of responsibilities, each peer mentor commits approximately 10 hours a week to academic tutoring and administrative work in the peer mentor office. The peer mentor team also hosts monthly events that build community and connect students to campus resources.

To qualify, full-time students in good disciplinary standing must have and maintain a 3.0 cumulative and semester GPA; have completed or enrolled in a majority of required core classes; and have strong interpersonal abilities to relate to and assist students of diverse backgrounds. All peer mentors will receive a full room scholarship for a single room in Moore Hall or Skarland Hall for the spring 2018 semester, and they can opt in to a discounted staff meal plan.
