Owen Guthrie has been named the interim associate vice chancellor for enrollment management. He will continue to serve as executive director of eCampus, where he has served since the summer of 2019.

Guthrie has been with eCampus since 2013, where he has provided leadership and supervision for UAF eCampus, a comprehensive center for the strategic development, design, delivery, marketing, and support of online courses and programs. His duties have included directing tiered development programs for faculty as well as leading instructional designers who facilitate faculty development workshops, cohorts and open lab sessions for instructors.

He also leads centralized student-facing systems, including marketing, recruitment, advising, registration and exam proctoring. Guthrie has served an instrumental role in strategic enrollment planning over the last two years and has worked to lead efforts to increase enrollment universitywide through the development of online programs, the Alaska Advantage Program, North Star College, and many other initiatives to increase college access through innovative course delivery.

Guthrie graduated from Colorado State University with a bachelor of science degree in wildlife biology in 1992 and earned a master of military history degree from Norwich University in 2009. Born and raised in Fairbanks, Guthrie has worked at UAF in a variety of roles starting in 1984.

Guthrie will be stepping in for Samara Taber, who was serving as interim associate vice chancellor for enrollment management and has accepted the position of executive director of advancement. Guthrie and Taber are co-chairing the AVCEM recruitment search and look forward to working with the search committee and the broader UAF community to select a permanent associate vice chancellor for enrollment management.
