Outdoor Adventures offers summer courses

Summer-2015-flyer Looking to gain a new outdoor skill this summer or brush up an old one? UAF Outdoor Adventures is offering three summer courses that can help.

Introduction to Arctic Backpacking, from June 12-21, will include a weeklong trip into the Gates of the Arctic National Park. Trip logistics and planning will be covered before the trip. The field course will cover navigation, route finding, river crossing and other aspects of hiking in the Arctic. The field fee is $450.

Technical Climbing: Rock, from July 14-26, will introduce students to outdoor climbing, including anchors, techniques and belaying. The class has four evening classroom sessions and four daylong outdoor climbing excursions. The field fee is $100.

Introduction to Packrafting, from June 1-6, will cover logistics, gear, river techniques, maintenance and paddling. An overnight trip is included. The fee hasn't been set yet.
