Ordering COVID-19 safety and cleaning supplies

August 6, 2020

The Facilities Services warehouse team is centrally procuring supplies for UAF and leveraging available resources to build a supply as quickly as possible. This centralized approach provides for consistent, cost-effective bulk purchasing of COVID-19 safety and cleaning supplies that align with recommendations based on UAF policy, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Environmental Protection Agency.

Individual departments within Fairbanks should not purchase these supplies independently. Remote and rural sites may purchase from their chosen vendor.

Departments are encouraged to follow these guidelines and compile their initial supply needs for the resumption of on-campus operations in August. Departments should be considerate of the supply limitations and plan for their initial needs only and should not request supplies to stockpile for future use. Additional or replenished supplies will be available throughout the academic year.

Once compiled, departments should submit a single COVID-19 request form to request their initial supply needs. Supplies can either be delivered directly to the requesting department or picked up Monday through Friday at the Facilities Services warehouse (door W13), by appointment. Please allow five days for orders to be filled or delivered after the request form is submitted.

Face coverings

  • Cloth mass: Departments may order one UAF branded cloth mask for each employee. The cloth masks provided are intended for long-term use.

  • Disposable masks: Departments may order a supply of disposable face masks to have for:

      • Visitors, employees and students arriving without a mask

      • Employees with approved accommodations to receive them

      • Employees who require them due to the nature of their work

  • Face shields: Departments may order one face shield for faculty teaching face to face courses.

Cleaning and disinfecting supplies
Departments should order disinfecting supplies for the location types listed below. Anticipate having one spray bottle of sanitizer and roll of paper towels per every five employees to share. Due to supply shortages, a separate bottle cannot be provided for each individual employee or location.

    • Conference rooms

    • Kitchenette or break rooms

    • Shared equipment (such as copiers)

    • Reception and service areas

    • Research laboratory and workshop areas

Departments do not need to request supplies for academic teaching spaces and computer laboratories. Facilities Services will take care of those spaces.

Hand sanitizer
If a sink or building hand sanitizer station is not readily available, departments may order a bottle of hand sanitizer to have available centrally in the area.

Gloves
Departments may order one box of gloves for cleaning to be kept in communal use rooms such as those noted above.
