Theresa John appointed to National Advisory Council on Indian Education

President Barack Obama announced his intent to appoint Theresa Arevgaq John a member of the National Advisory Council on Indian Education. This and several other key appointments is announced in an April 8 White House news release.

Theresa Arevgaq John is an associate professor in Alaska Native Studies and Rural Development at UAF.  John currently serves on the Alaska State Council on the Arts board and is the former chair of the arts council's Traditional Native Arts Panel.  She is also the recipient of the Governor’s Distinguished Humanities Educator Award.  John received her BS, MEd and PhD degrees from UAF.
