New UAF libraries catalog coming soon

University Relations

The library catalog for Mather and Rasmuson libraries is changing!

The libraries at UAF will soon join an Alaska Library Catalog consortium. This catalog makes available the holdings of the major public and university libraries in the state, as well as many smaller community and school libraries. In addition to expanding access to library materials, the move to the Alaska Library Catalog allows the UAF libraries to reduce expenditures.

UAF library patrons will still be able to choose to search for items only in campus libraries, but will also be able to see and directly request items from all over Alaska. The move is scheduled for May 7, and we are expecting no interruption of service. Training sessions and a web tutorial will be available to help patrons learn to use the new system.

For a preview of what the ALC interface will look like and how the catalog can be searched, test out the UAA/APU Consortium Library catalog.

How this may affect you
If you have class tutorials about the UAF library catalog, or link to books or other items in the catalog, you will need to update your class material to reflect the new system. For help with updating existing tutorials or links, contact Ilana Kingsley at imkingsley@alaska.edu.
