New BA in secondary education

December 19, 2013

Cornerstone

The UAF School of Education now offers a baccalaureate degree in secondary education. The State Board of Education unanimously approved the new degree Dec. 6. This BA allows students to earn a teaching license in secondary education in a variety of subject areas, while earning a four-year degree in a content area such as English, chemistry, earth science, mathematics, and other areas.

The program is set up as a double major that can be completed in four years. All of the education classes may be taken via distance delivery, allowing students to complete their education course work from their home community. The School of Education is nationally accredited through the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education.
