The University of Alaska Fairbanks will host National Public Radio’s quiz show “Wait, Wait… Don’t Tell Me” Thursday, Aug. 11, at 7 p.m. in the Davis Concert Hall.

While “Wait, Wait … Don’t Tell Me” is sold out, the show’s panelist and author Tom Bodett will perform a one-man show Saturday Aug. 6, 2011 at 7 p.m. also in the Davis Concert Hall. His performance is free and open to the public.

Bodett, a former resident of Homer, is the author of more than a dozen books and audiobooks. His most recent audiobook is 2009’s “It’s Just Like I Told You: 25 Years of Comments and Comic Pieces.” The collection includes stories from his previous works “As Far As You Can Go Without a Passport” and “Small Comforts,” along with some favorites from years past. Bodett’s voice is well known as a panelist on “Wait, Wait… Don’t Tell Me,” NPR’s “All Things Considered” and as the voice of the hotel chain Motel 6.

“Wait, Wait… Don’t Tell Me” has been on the air since 1998. Playwright, writer and actor Peter Sagal regularly hosts the show with longtime voice of NPR Carl Kassell as the official judge and scorekeeper for the game show. The panelists who play the game rotate weekly. Favorites include: comedienne Paula Poundstone, Houston Chronicle editor Kyrie O’Connor and political contributor Mo Rocca. The show is broadcast every Sunday at 10 a.m. on KUAC 89.9 FM or is available anytime for free on podcast from www.npr.org or your digital music provider.
