National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine town halls

Members of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine and from the Alliance for Arts at Research Universities, or a2ru, will participate in two town hall meetings Tuesday, April 16. Students, staff and faculty are invited to participate.

The first town hall will discuss NASEM’s report Branches from the Same Tree: The Integration of the Humanities and Arts with Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine in Higher Education.” The town hall will feature presentations by NASEM and a2ru representatives and UAF personnel engaged in integration activities, followed by interactive breakout discussions on implementing NASEM’s recommendations at UAF. The town hall will be from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the Wood Center ballroom. The event will also be webcast. For more information contact Mary Beth Leigh at mbleigh@alaska.edu. The second town hall will discuss recommendations in NASEM's recent report “Sexual Harassment of Women: Climate, Culture, and Consequences in Academic Sciences, Engineering and Medicine.” The town hall will feature a presentation by Frazier Benya of NASEM, followed by a question-and-answer session with Benya, NASEM and UAF personnel.
